I like my new edge.  It has a great channel and can take a beating!  I don't know what all the fuss is with less hold.

Word on the street is the Professors are showing up illegal left and right.  See:

I have two STX Professors, both warped and probably illegal.

The 2010 Brine Edge is a great stick...strong, stiff, easy to string, pretty cheap when you start comparing prices.  It has MUCH better hold than my pinched Revo 2.0

Btw, Horvath, nice game vs. Indiana.  5 goals...killing it out there.  Hope you try out for Milkmen this summer.

The Gophers did a team order of 2010 legal heads and I've strung up a few different ones:

-Major problems with the new Clutch X. Every one that has been used for a few practices or games has broken at the throat between string holes. It's too bad, because the Clutch has a good feel and is easy to string up a good pocket in.

-Revo X looks like a box head. It's wider by the throat but up top it's narrow as heck. Looks goofy, but still throws pretty nicely (especially if you like a high pocket).

-Edge X... I've disliked any Edge head since I began playing. Some people seem to like them for whatever reason.

-Professor was OK at best. All STX heads seem to be tough to string and come out happy with the pocket, I guess.

-Warrior Noz is extra wide and the string holes limit how you can string it. About 7-8 years ago someone got the bright idea to put more string holes in the sidewalls of heads to give you more stringing options. Has Warrior still not gotten the memo???

I've been playing with STX's 2010 version of the Xcaliber. I have been a huge fan of this series of head ever since I threw around with my friend's X2, and then bought the 08 Xcal. currently i have it strung up with a low pocket in some soft canadian mesh.

this head is a bit ridiculous. it is the most stiff head i have worked with. i'm not using this as a gamer, just as a coaching stick, but i can assure you that this head can dish out a lot of hurt as a checking tool.

Bice - not a fan of stringing STX heads? i have always found them to be the easiest to string out of any brand.

so.. i have now broken three professor in the same spot.. so i will not be using it again.. and also they Professor come illegal to use in NCAA or college games. they are an 1/8 of inch to pinched and also STX says there is nothing wrong with them

I honestly don't think changing the specs for 2010 has done much, if anything to the performance of the sticks that are coming out. I think if anything, this will push people to be more innovative with the way they string their pockets; as a good stringer can negate any disadvantage of having to use a wider head if they really know what they're doing.
This being said, I really think the longer the 2010 head regulations are in place, the more people will resort to using some sort of traditional stringing, as this is by far the best way to have a wider stick feel tighter than it actually is. I know people out there are thinking "well, the leathers are going to get wet, and then the pocket's going to suck." To these people, I completely agree with you; but I should mention that there are companies out there that make "synthetic leathers," which are essentially thicker pieces of mesh you use in place of the leathers (and they aren't something like a girl's trakker pocket). I have been using these for the last season and they haven't stretched unevenly, and the pocket still is in as good, if not better condition to the ones I have used that are mesh. I know that stringing something more along the lines of traditional takes more time, and generally more maintenance, but again a skilled stringer can minimize, if not eliminate these problems if the pocket is well strung.
Sorry for the long rant, but that's my take on this whole issue.
